Article 16 List of players – preliminary competition
3. 18 players may be entered on the list of players (11 players and 7 substitutes). The 11 (eleven) first-named players must start the match, the other 7 (seven) are designated as substitutes. The numbers on the players’ shirts must correspond with the numbers indicated on the match sheet (numbers 1-18 only)

Article 21 Equipment – preliminary competition
4. Each player shall wear a number between 1 and 18 on his team shirt

Article 32 Equipment – final competition
6. Throughout the final competition, each player shall wear the number allotted to him on the official players’ list in accordance with the Equipment Regulations.

7. The player’s last name or popular name (or abbreviation) shall be affixed above the number on the back of the shirt

FIFA said Thursday there were no regulations for the numbers worn during friendlies.

Still, the rule is a change compared to the 2006 World Cup and this year's European Championship, when players could wear numbers as high as 23. While Ballack - who missed the Belgium match with an injury - is not affected by the change, striker Lukas Podolski would have to switch from his usual No. 20.

FIFA said using personalized jerseys with names was optional and up to the teams.




~ 파악한 바를 간단히 정리해보자면,

1) 2010 월드컵 예선에서는 등번호를 1~18번까지만 쓸 수 있고,
저지에 이름을 쓰는 것은 선택사항으로 각 팀에서 결정할 수 있다.
2) 2010 월드컵 본선에서는 등번호 1~23번까지 쓰며, 번호 위에 선수의 이름을 쓴다.
3) 1)의 규정은 친선 경기에는 해당되지 않는다.

2)번이야 예전 그대로이다만, 1)번이 문제.
이름 쓰는 건 각 팀 재량이라고 말은 한다만, 고유한 번호가 없게 되는 마당에 어떻게 이름을 쓰겠나.
누구 말마따나 이거 최고로 멍청한 규정인 듯.
아디다스, 나이키, 기타 스포츠 용품 업체들 뭐하고 있는 거냐. 이 규정 없어지게 FIFA에 로비 좀 해라 -_-
