John Wayne served on screen
캡처해서 올리고 싶은데 거의 모든 프레임을 캡처해야 할 지경이라 ^^;

John Wayne served on screen

Although he made more Westerns than war movies, John Wayne represents for many the face of the generation that won World War II. As Memorial Day nears, have a look at some of his most memorable films about that period.

The Longest Day (1962) - Wayne was one among many stars in this sprawling but engrossing account of D-Day, with a view that shifts back and forth between the Allies and the Germans.

The Flying Leathernecks (1951) - Nicholas Ray directed this exciting re-creation of the Battle of Guadalcanal, centered on the Wildcats squadron; Wayne portrays its leader, Maj. Dan Kirby.

Operation Pacific (1951) - As submarine commander Duke Gifford, Wayne plays a man haunted by guilt while heading into an encounter with the Japanese.

Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) - In one of the best-known WWII movies, Wayne plays a hard-nosed Marine sergeant who pounds recruits into shape for what turns out to be one of the most horrendous battles in the war.

Back to Bataan (1945) - In this moving and suspenseful film, Wayne plays an American officer who stays in the Philippines after the Japanese invasion to help guerrilla fighters strike back against the occupation.

The Fighting Seabees (1944) - Wayne plays a civilian contractor in this film about construction workers building airfields in the Pacific theater. This is the only film in which Wayne danced the jitterbug.
