-- 존 포드와 게리 쿠퍼를 대신해서 오스카 트로피를 받으러 두번이나 단상에 올랐다는 것은 1953년의 시상식을 말한다. 그 해에 존 포드는 [The Quiet Man]으로 감독상을, 게리 쿠퍼는 [High Noon]으로 주연남우상을 받았다. 두 사람은 42년에도 [How Green Was My Valley]와 [Sergeant York]로 오스카를 받았는데, 그 때는 듀크가 오스카 시상식에 갈 일이 없었으리라. IMDb의 게리 쿠퍼 수상 내역에도 53년에 듀크가 대신 트로피를 받았다고 되어있다.
