John Wayne fans need to saddle up and head to Winterset, Iowa, May 25-27 to commemorate the late cowboy's 100th birthday. Marion Morrison, Wayne's real name, was born in this Midwestern town and his larger-than-life film presence is sure to engulf the affair. The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. May 26 with a genuine old-fashioned hometown parade winding from the Madison County Fairgrounds, through Winterset's quaint 1800s-era courthouse square and past Wayne's birthplace home, about 370 miles west of Chicago.

Also on hand will be John Wayne's son, Ethan, and other family members, who will take part in a groundbreaking for the new John Wayne Museum and Learning Center.

Other activities and highlights throughout the birthday bash include an appearance by country music singer Michael Martin Murphey, a cowboy symposium focusing on Wayne's films, a rodeo and a western clothing and collectibles shop.
